Tecnografica reaffirms its ability to create fully customized projects tailored to the specific needs of each project, both in terms of wall dimensions and creative concept. The latest demonstration comes from the Palace of Versailles, where Tecnografica wallpapers decorate two rooms hosting the exhibition "The King’s Animals," open until February 13, 2022. The company, based in Castellarano (Reggio Emilia, Italy), is proud to count among its achievements a project of such significance, given the notoriety of the location and the level of craftsmanship required.
Thanks to the expertise of its in-house designers and the capabilities of digital printing, Tecnografica's team successfully completed a complex customization on large surfaces, in the renowned and magnificent setting of the Palace of Versailles. This is yet another tangible example showcasing the excellence of companies from the Emilia region, capable of creating outstanding projects both in Italy and internationally. The exhibition illustrates the long-standing bond between the Versailles court and animals—whether pets, hunting companions, or exotic display animals—and the setup was curated by Guicciardini&Magni Architetti, an Italian architecture studio specialized in Cultural Heritage, museum installations, and interior design.
This special project required the creation of a scenographic environment inspired by nature; Tecnografica Italian Wallcoverings was selected for the graphic creation and digital printing of customized wallpapers to be installed in two exhibition rooms: Le Salon octagone de la ménagerie and La Chasse, rituel monarchique.
Le Salon octagone de la ménagerie partially reconstructs the original octagonal room of the ménagerie, which once housed over 50 paintings depicting animal species. After being removed during the French Revolution, some of these paintings have now been reunited and can once again be admired in Versailles. To host and enhance the magnificent paintings on display, Guicciardini&Magni chose a custom-designed botanical-themed wallpaper by Tecnografica. In warm yellow tones, the branch motif extends along all the walls of the room.
La Chasse, rituel monarchique is dedicated to hunting, one of King Louis XIV’s favorite pastimes. This is one of the exhibition’s main rooms, also thanks to its considerable size. The setup was conceived on a grand scale by Guicciardini&Magni, recreating a life-sized forest by covering all the walls with customized wallpaper from Tecnografica, taking full advantage of the room’s five-meter height. The unique wallpaper design reproduces the natural play of light and shadow created by the sun filtering through the tree foliage. The final result is a spectacular, fully immersive setting, as if visitors were physically walking through the king’s forest.
The style matches the materials: Guicciardini&Magni Architetti chose the ECO support for both rooms. ECO is Tecnografica’s wallpaper made from cellulose fiber, completely free from PVC, chemical solvents, and vinyl glues. It is an ecological, certified wallpaper that ensures extremely high photographic quality and exceptionally bright and vivid colors.
