The entrance is the first area we discover in a building. Consequently, it is also the first space that tells us about the building’s overall style, function, and design philosophy. For this reason, although it is often a transient area where people do not linger, paying close attention to details is crucial.
Arc Studio Innovations, an architecture and interior design studio based in Cairo (Egypt), presents two different types of entrances.
In the first, the main feature is undoubtedly the strong chromatic contrast between black and white, expertly used to guide the viewer’s eye toward specific elements. Among these are: the two large central windows, which bring brightness to the entire space; the floor, with its impactful geometric design that creates depth and perspective; and, on the left wall, the wallpaper.
Hand-drawn by Marco Fontana for Tecnografica, "Venezia 73" (color variant: Black and White) is a graphic that celebrates the unmistakable city of Venice. Moreover, the soft lines of the drawings create a perfect balance with the regular shapes of the windows and the floor.
The second type of entrance also uses the contrast between the defined geometries of the floor and walls and the soft outlines of the wallpaper design. However, this time, the design is based on warm shades of gold and brown, evoking — together with the furnishings — a clear idea of luxury. The same concept is indirectly expressed by the "Tropicana" wallpaper (color variant: Colorful B), which depicts a rich and lush forest. The entire environment is further visually expanded by the reflections on the glossy surfaces of the marble floor, the golden elevator, and the large mirror installed on the ceiling.
