Above McKenzie Farm there’s a hill, and on that hill there’s a forest. It’s in that forest that lives Lupo Alberto, the blue wolf protagonist of one of the most passionate love stories of all time, alongside the hen Marta. A stormy love, though not because of the couple themselves: their relationship is constantly interrupted by chases, traps, and brawls with Mosè, the guard dog who despises the wolf. And let’s not forget the unpredictable Enrico La Talpa, a mischievous farm resident who, with his catchphrase “Hey there, Beppe!”, has earned a place in readers’ hearts.
The characters of Lupo Alberto and McKenzie Farm were created by Guido Silvestri, known by his pen name Silver. Born in 1952, he made his comic debut in 1971 collaborating on Nick Carter, the iconic character of the TV show Gulp! Fumetti in TV, created by Bonvi (Franco Bonvicini) and Guido De Maria.
In 1974, he created the Lupo Alberto comic strip for Corriere dei Ragazzi.
From 1976, Silver and Lupo Alberto joined EUREKA, a magazine by Editoriale Corno mainly dedicated to auteur comics. It was in this magazine’s pages that the character began his rise to success, becoming readers’ favorite in just two years in a popularity poll.
From 1979 to 1982, Silver worked as a satirical cartoonist for the newspaper L’OCCHIO, directed by Maurizio Costanzo.
In 1984, Silver and McKenzie Farm launched a magazine entirely dedicated to Lupo Alberto, from which numerous social and commercial initiatives would originate, cementing the blue wolf as a true pop culture icon.
Today, thanks to the collaboration with Tecnografica, the adventures of the blue wolf enter the world of interior design: “Lupo Alberto by Silver” is the new wallpaper collection ready to bring a great classic of Italian comics not only into homes, but also into restaurants, pubs, waiting rooms, schools, and cultural or recreational spaces — anywhere Lupo Alberto can hide from Mosè’s ambushes!
