Born in 1962, Giovanna Casotto is a celebrated Italian cartoonist and illustrator. Her life as a housewife took on new colors when she transformed her passion for drawing and comics into a profession. For three years, she attended the Comics School of Milan, after which she began publishing her works.
Particularly fascinated by the nude human figure, she focuses on the erotic representation of the female body. Her main inspiration comes from the 1950s aesthetic—from the silhouettes of pin-ups to the elegance of Hollywood stars of that era. Her illustrations, rich in detail and color, exalt the sensuality of a charismatic, self-aware, and sophisticated woman.
Beyond comics, Giovanna is devoted to the watercolor technique, which inspired her to begin teaching. Her class gathered five students and friends—Rossana Cagnetta, Antonella Siena, Susanna Maccari, Filomena Castelluccio, and Nadia Pirovano—who collaborated with her in creating a splendid series of watercolors paying refined homage to the female face.
Today, Tecnografica has the honor of drawing directly from that very series of paintings. The result is a selection of eight designs for Tecnografica’s Collaborations: eight wallpapers, each dedicated to a different woman’s gaze—so intense and profound they take your breath away.
